For years, Isa has been actively involved with non-profit foundations whose missions are aimed at helping children globally. Her art has been featured in silent auctions across the US, all with the goal of improving children's lives.
Five years ago, one of her best friends reached out and asked for her participation in a fundraiser for a children's foundation aptly named: Los Niños Del Campo located in Viota Cudinamarca, Colombia. Near and dear to her heart and Colombian roots, she jumped on board with the project alongside her talented group of friends. The first event was a success and this fueled her passion to keep helping this cause. (See video below)
Fundación Los Niños Del Campo was founded by entrepreneur and father of Isa's friend, Alejandro Acero. Mr. Acero decided to leave his business life aside to become a father figure to 60 children, all whom are the most innocent victims of the guerilla war.
He provides shelter, education, clothing, food and care for all 60 children. At the present time, his two goals are to the make the foundation sustainable by growing their own fruits and vegetables; and by providing arts and crafts training to adults in the area so they can earn a living.
Empowered through her art and with a zest for helping to create a better world, Isa has created her own foundation: My Art Foundation. Knowing first hand how art can inspire and change a person's life, the foundation's mission is to provide underprivileged children art lessons and art supplies.
In 2010, she was able to launch her dream with a small group of children and amazing results. With the purpose of wanting to touch the lives of many more children, she is uniting My Art Foundation with the Fundación De Los Niños Del Campo and is donating a percentage of the proceeds of her clothing line sales to buy art books and supplies for the children of Fundación De Los Niños Del Campo.
"I believe that the most positive way to help people is by providing education, to give people the necessary tools to learn a craft. This allows them to develop their talents and boost their self-esteem. I believe in the motto "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." .My dream is to be able to help more children and adults by hiring more art teachers. This will enable the foundation to reach more children and change their lives forever…but I am taking things one-step at a time." -Isa.
